U.S. District Court – Cunningham Bounds negotiated a settlement for a student who suffered serious head injuries due to a multiple-vehicle accident caused by a commercial truck crossing Highway 43.

Miller v. Bradford Health Services

Mobile County, Alabama - We successfully obtained a $3 million verdict for the family of a woman who was killed on her way to school. The woman's vehicle struck an 18-wheeler after she was run off the road by a Bradford Health Services driver who fell asleep at the wheel and veered into her lane.  It was discovered that the Bradford employee had been driving for over 20 hours, straight through the night, to deliver a patient to one of the company's facilities.

Rogers v. L & M Towing, Inc., et al.

Mobile County, Alabama – We negotiated a confidential settlement for the family of a man who was killed when he was hit by an improperly secured vehicle that rolled off a tow truck.

Howell v. J & J Wood, Inc., et al.

U.S. District Court – We reached a confidential settlement amount for the family of a victim who was killed when he struck the defendant’s log truck.  The log truck was stretched across all four lanes of a busy U.S. highway near Phenix City, Alabama on a rainy night.

Lundy, et al. v. DL Peterson Trust, et al.

Mobile County, Alabama – Our law firm successfully reached a confidential settlement for a man who was severely injured in a head-on collision with a company employee's vehicle.  The employee had either fallen asleep or passed out as a result of impairment caused by substance abuse and being forced by his employer to work many hours of overtime.

Abston v. Kelly Brothers

U.S. District Court – Our attorneys obtained a $550,000 jury verdict in a trucking case where there was a dispute over who had the right of way.

Blubaugh v. Federal Express Corp.

Baldwin County, Alabama – Cunningham Bounds obtained a $5.007 million jury verdict for the victim of a rear-end collision involving a Federal Express delivery vehicle.

Cole v. BellSouth

Mobile County, Alabama – Cunningham Bounds obtained an $875,608 jury verdict for a man who suffered significant back injury as a result of being rear-ended by a BellSouth bucket truck.

Whatley v. Merit Trucking Co., Inc.

U.S. District Court – Cunningham Bounds obtained a settlement for the victims of a tractor-trailer underride case where the impaired truck driver violated the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act regulations in abandoning his disabled tractor-trailer on a fog-shrouded highway. In addition, the truck driver's employer had negligently failed to adequately screen the driver prior to employing him.

Meadows v. Hornaday Truck Lines

Baldwin County, Alabama – Our attorney obtained a $4.5 million jury verdict for the family who suffered severe personal injuries as a consequence of a head-on collision with a commercial truck on Interstate 65. The case was appealed and affirmed in full by the Alabama Supreme Court. See, Hornaday Truck Line, Inc. v. Meadows, 847 So. 2d 908 (Ala. 2002).

Moorer v. Boasso America Trucking

Mobile County, Alabama – A confidential settlement was obtained for a husband and wife who received severe injuries after colliding with the trailer of a tractor-trailer rig that was not properly equipped and illuminated as required by Federal Motor Carrier regulations.

Kelley, etc v. Cablesouth, Inc. et al.

Jackson County, Mississippi – Cunningham Bounds obtained confidential settlements for five wrongful death and personal injury claims resulting from an interstate collision involving a multi-vehicle pileup of numerous 18-wheel tractor-trailers, buses, and passenger vehicles on I-10 at the Alabama/Mississippi line.

Anonymous v. Anonymous

Mobile County, Alabama – A confidential settlement was reached for a 17-year-old student who suffered permanent physical injuries, including severe injuries to the brain, when the car in which he was riding was struck by a truck. The truck driver was found to be under the influence of illegal narcotics.

Baldwin County, Alabama – Cunningham Bounds, LLC negotiated a confidential settlement for the family of a woman who was killed by a concrete truck that crossed the centerline at the time of the crash. The driver of the concrete truck had a long criminal record and was impaired at the time of the crash.

Mobile County, Alabama – A jury verdict was reached for the widower of a woman who was killed when the automobile in which she was riding was struck by a tractor-trailer.  In addition, a confidential settlement was reached with the driver of the automobile in which she was riding.

Pacatte v. Simco

Mobile County, Alabama – The firm obtained a settlement for the wrongful death of a man who was sitting stationary at a railroad crossing waiting for a train to clear the tracks before continuing on his way. The victim's car was struck by an out-of-control and impaired 18-wheel truck driver and rammed into the passing train.

Kobos v. Barber Dairies, Inc.

Mobile County, Alabama – Our attorneys secured a settlement for the family of a Baldwin County school teacher who was killed when she was rear-ended by an 18-wheel tractor-trailer arising from a 192 vehicle disaster on the I-10 Bayway.
