Verdicts for the injured in Alabama
The dedicated advocates at Cunningham Bounds are renowned for their experience and results. Our lawyers have participated in hundreds of courtroom cases, resulting in record-breaking results:
- The third largest verdict awarded to an individual in the United States in 2008
- The seventh largest verdict awarded to an individual in the United States in 2007
- The fifteenth largest verdict in the United States in 2007
We served as the lead counsel and lead trial counsel for the State of Alabama in their suit against ExxonMobil alleging oil and gas royalty fraud. This case resulted in a jury verdict of $3.5 billion for the State. The Supreme Court overturned the verdict and ordered a new trial. The retrial resulted in a verdict and judgment in the amount of $11.9 billion for the State. This is one of the largest verdicts ever rendered by a jury in the U.S.
Cunningham Bounds was also lead trial counsel for a nationwide class of consumers against Masonite for selling defective building material. The firm obtained a jury verdict, which resulted in homeowners across the country recovering nearly one billion dollars to date. This class action is believed to be one of the largest class action cases ever tried to a jury verdict in the United States.
Our firm is known for presenting well-organized cases at trial and for not being afraid to take on large corporations. Our experience and resources can level the playing field between trucking companies and our clients. Many of our attorneys have received praise from independent evaluators:
- Thirteen members of our legal team are AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell
- Eight of our litigators are listed in The Best Lawyers in America
- Seven of the firm’s attorneys are named in Alabama’s Super Lawyers
